When i bought galaxy fame on august, there already software update available for my phone. It says that this software update is to improve stability of the software.
This software update is different for each country, but if there is a software update (firmware update) for your galaxy fame, you will see it on the notification bar.
If your galaxy fame already rooted, then you won't be able to do the software update, so it's important that you update the software before you root your phone.
Basically after you accept the terms and agreement, the phone will download software package from the internet, and then you can install the software package.
After the whole process finish, now my samsung galaxy fame is running different firmware (you can see from "settings" > "about device" > "build number").
- Before update : S6810XXAME2
- After update : S6810XXAMG2
